Ryan Schuur wins Miniakota Feature on USMTS night!

8/20/2012

USMTS night at Worthington will always make for some great racing in all classes. Last night was no different as the Miniakota Microsprints took their turn at the event. With three heats completed a pair of 21's would sit on the front row for the big show. Ryan Schuur's 21 would make the pace as Wade Huisman's 21w would follow to the green. Schuur would make it to the first corner with the lead and start to pull a few tenth a lap on the field. With a long set of green flag laps, Huisman would begin to fade as Shane Fick and his 7F blistered the pair of front runners to take the lead. Kris Wilke in his 89k machine and Ottenbacher's 32t would also overtake the 21w of Wade Huisman. As the 7f of Fick would half track the field Ottenbacher and Wilke would gain on Schuur but the pair would run out of time and room. Trey Thesenvitz would make a last lap pass on Huisman to end the show. To the tech area for the top 5 as usual, but this time it would prove to be a shake up. The 7f of Shane Fick would fail to pass engine tech inspection and the win was handed to Ryan Schuur. It was Ryan's first win of the season and his first ever win with the wing on. You can find Ryan's interview online at the www.speedsistersonline.com/.

MCS Cancelles Miniakota Make up date

MCS Cancelles Miniakota Make up date

8/14/2012

Due to ongoing conflicts at the fair in Slayton, mainly the race track vs. horsesm, the MCS has had to drop us & possibly some other classes for this Friday night. This was the rescheduled rain date we added. Our final night of racing at Murray county will be August 24th for a Nonwing event.
Tim O, Ryan S, & I will be doing the track prep. come if you dare.

Trey Thesenvitz finds time off valuable.

During the last month of racing, Trey had to keep his chin up through the ups and downs. With such a strong start to the season, a team is bound to see some adversity in comparison. Trey finally found his way back to the winners circle, topping Miniakota points leader Tim Ottenbacher and Ryan Schuur in the podium spots. The win slipped him back into the 3rd place points position and gave him an opportunity to chase down his leaders. Trey and his #53 have been the 2013 Rookie standout this far, leading the dozen or so new Miniakota drivers since the opening night of racing. The Miniakota Micro's are back in Nonwing action at Nobles county this week.

Ottenbacher takes final night of Mini speed week.

Tim Ottenbacher is on a role at Nobles County Speedway. Starting as far back as the transfer can put him, doesn’t seem to matter, as the 32T shows patience to get the job done. Tim's win took place in front of a large crowd during the USMTS show. The feature would have much for the stands, as the 21w of Wade Huisman, would flip down the front stretch in the early laps of the race, dashing his hopes at being in the speed weeks top spot. The next caution would fall, as Speed week points leader Dalton Johnson, would make a critical mistake and cost him the Triple points crown. Dalton was running second when his car made contact with the infield barrel, causing damage to the 27 machine that would send him to the infield. With it, went his hopes for the speed week Crown. As racing would resume, Brandon Buysse would show extreme dominance leaving the field behind. But as the track would fade Ottenbachers ride would come in and Brandon would have to leave his first feature win of the season behind. Ottenbacher would not go unchallenged out front, as Chris Breen would take his #97B to the edge, showing Ottenbacher a nose. Ottenbacher would hold strong on the last lap and would take the final night of speed week racing.

Dalton Johnson gets his first on night 2!

Dalton Johnson would have his chance in the second night of speed week as the traveling group visited Murray County Speedway. Johnson being the runner up of night one seems to have found his grove and a strong starting spot for the feature. Johnson would find victory lane only after the dust settle. A wild night of racing would leave the track a dust bowl for the feature and the program would be called short on safety concerns just past the half way point. Johnson’s feature was no less impressive as he still fended off charges from Derek Steen and 16 other mini speed week attendees to take his first MiniaKota Microprints feature. Along with a nice payday and prize from Keizer Wheels the win also put Dalton at the top of the speed weeks Triple Crown points chase. Dalton looks to seal the deal Sunday night for the final night of speed week. Come on out to Nobles county speedway as the Miniakota Micro’s run support for the USMTs mod series.

Fick Takes Speed week opener

Shane Fick takes night one of Mini speed week.

Redwood falls would be the starting spot for the Miniakota Micros speed week, on a hot Thursday night. Redwoods short track made for some great heat races as the 21w of Wade Huisman and the 67 of Michael Nichols would take the heat race wins. A 3 pill on the invert, would swap the 1st and 3rd rows for the final race of the night. Fick, always tough from any spot, would prove perfect from the front row as the rest of the field would be left to sort it out. The 21w of Huisman would work up into the 2nd spot before dropping back as the 89K of Kris Wilke and the 27 of Dalton Johnson would overtake him for 2nd and 3rd. Johnson would make attempts to gain ground on Fick’s 7f, but would run out of time quickly as the race had 18 caution free Laps. For his efforts, Shane Fick picked up the nice payday, night one of the Triple crown and a gift from Keizer Aluminum Wheels Inc.

Miniakota Speed week!!! Redwood, Murray, Hartford, & Nobles!!
Who will be our Speed week Champion in 2012? Speed week starts off this Thursday night, at Redwood Falls, Mn, for the Miniakota 600cc microsprints. Winged racing will be the game, as we run support along side the Mini-mods on the short track at Slayton as the always exciting JSTS sprints & A mods run the big track. It will be the JSTS second night of racing on their busy speed week tour. Night 2 will bring the Miniakota Micro's to the Murray County speedway in Slayton for a return to the newly created short track. Much action is sure to follow as the group will run winged action for the 2nd time this season at the track. Saturday will offer up another unique opportunity for the 600cc Winged micro sprints as they head over to I90 speedway in Hartford, SD, for the first time in the groups history. Summer Rumble is the name of the game at a the large track, with sweeping corners that should produce tremendous speeds for the small cars. Many are eager to get in front of the new fans for a exhibition race and see what the track has to offer. For the final leg of the 600cc Miniakota speedweek tour the group heads over to the familiar Nobles County speedway to finish the weekend with a Nonwing event, running support for the always awesome show of the USMTS. Ottenbacher takes 4th Miniakota Feature!!

Ottenbacher takes 4th Miniakota Feature!!

7/15/2012

Miniakota wins have been spread pretty even amongst the Miniakota drivers this season, with 8 different drivers in 11 events taking top honors. Problem for the Miniakota cup chasers is Ottenbacher is the only driver to repeat this season. With 4 feature events under his belt, the 32T of Tim Ottenbacher has shown why he has several cups to his name.
Ottenbacher would start 7th row for the Sunday night Nobles county winged feature event. On the opening circuit the 600 sprints would not get far as Ottenbacher and Ryan Schuur starting from the the 4th row would both get into the backs of the 3rd row starting spots. The 21 of Schuur would flip violently down the front stretch setting the first red for the night. On the full restart, pole setter Wade Huisman, would drop the hammer and leave the pack into turn one. Through a series of yellows and a short red, due to a fire, Huismans 21w would stay strong as Ottenbachers 32t machine would pick spots off along the way. Around the 15th lap, Ottenbacher's work would pay off as the 21w machine would lose power and pull to the infield. The 97B of Chris Breen, the 4x of Ryan Hargan, the 11J of Jordan Nordstrom and the 89K of Kris Wilke would round out your top five.
